I'm really excited to give this a go! I haven't played it yet, and barely know anything about it or the series in general. (Other than of course being DnD inspired/related.) I just hear so many amazing things about it, I must find out for myself. As well as give support to these developers that have clearly earned it!
I was all into Baldur gate 3 thinking it would be like Diablo hack and slash your way through. But baldur gate 3 is a point and click game on ps4 and ps5 why is that with a controller?? for those reasons did not buy it.
I think the massive file size is what’s preventing them from shipping it physically. They would need to print 3 discs to fit the whole game. I guess they figured that wasn’t practical or worth the investment.
Apparently BG3 is not that much bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2, FF7 remake or TLOU2 part II.
Ultra Blu-ray disks have a max capacity of about 100 gigs, so needing 2 100 gigs Ultra Blu-rays is pretty common on modern consoles.
So no, 3 100 gig Blu-rays would be overkill, only needs 2 Ultrablurays which are quite common.
I guess if they don't want to sell more copies of the game due to it being digital-only then it's not a videogame that I find worthy of purchasing either.
If they had a physical copy it would make a huge difference for me. I would buy it day 1 for sure no doubt. But I’m playing other games right now and will wait a little bit to see if they consider releasing a physical basically copy.
Simply put, one of the greatest games ever made!!
I am finally on the home stretch of act 3 after 80 glorious hrs.
