It will be there regardless because it sells. Asking Ubisoft not to include microtransactions is like asking a bird not to fly. As long as it doesn't interfere with story progression, then there's no issue at all.
Don't buy it. Want to send a message don't buy it. Simple. Or buy it and don't buy the microtransactions. Gamers want games to essentially be free. But then these same asshats also complain about game pass which in itself lowers the entry cost. The truth is gamers are fucking idiots.
Really sick of the bullshit “it’s optional” or “don’t buy it” excuses
If you guys want to arselick a massive company that doesn’t give a shit about you or like supporting anti gamer businesses practices then fine but don’t try and make out we’re the issue
Jesus. No wonder gaming has become so awful over the years.
its called dont but it crybaby, the fact that yall are so dumb enough to call me a bootlicker when i dont even buy ubisoft games, shows me you dont practice what you preach. you font stand on what you say, you just come on here to complain but still buy the shit you're complaining about. SO NOW DONT BUY IT OR KEEP CRYING.
@-Foxtrot Not sure if i'm on the same page as @MrSwankSinatra, but i though he meant to not buy the game. Which is, imo, probably the only way to not support this BS in any way, shape or form.
Because even if you don't buy microtransactions, they'll still be getting money from you. Game sales are enough for them to cover the costs. Microtransactions are like an extra paycheck for the top management to them.
I get where you're coming from. The problem is that they are going to make leveling a chore so that people give into buying it. This is only going to bring it to a normal pace. That's a garbage practice for single player games. So yes, the only way to deal with it is to not buy it. Ubisoft is trash anyway.
No one is surprised or pretending to be so. It’s perfectly fine to express discontent with the industry. Ultimately, not buying something sends the strongest message but talking about it with other people can help them to also not buy the product. I guess I kinda see it as a grass roots effort to convince others not to buy these types of games.
As expected, Ubisoft made the jump and did everything right (classic AC gameplay, cool setting, reasonable campaign length, lower launch-price), then at the last minute their usual corporate greed kicks in again and they botch the landing.
This went from possible ‘Day 1 purchase’ to ‘I’ll wait for a deep sale’ …
Cause eventually those Mt will start actually affecting gameplay. It sends a bad message. Look at mortal kombat not exactly the same but the initial roster is lacking severely. But you always can buy the dlc. This sh is getting out of hand. It's all good till it starts affecting something you care about. Just remember that
The last few AC games were exceptionally grindy to the point where you could bypass the grinding by…..you guessed it MTX. Those aren’t lies. Ubi went as far as to patch the game as soon as players found ways to speed up leveling.
I remember fallout 3 and assassins creed came out close to the same time back when. I bought both. I played assassins creeds and didn't really care for it. I've tried Valhalla, origins, and odyssey and still don't like them. Something about them just isn't for me. Origins would've been the closest for me since I enjoy the time period. Sh anyway I ended up stopping the or ass creed and played fallout 3 instead.
What did you expect? If you seriously believed that Ubi would abandon a feature that made them huge profits just like that then you truly don't know them.
that's just it. idk about Ubi, but when other major publishers are raking in 3x the money from MTs than they do selling the f'n game itself.... it's absolute shit, but when something is making money from essentially nothing then these companies are going to slide this shit into their games.
As long as it doesn't interfere with the gameplay who cares? If this is what it takes to increase monetization in single player games. I'm fine with it. Not every single player game goes viral like Hogwarts, Elden Ring or Baldurs Gate to make enough profit. Final Fantasy 16 seems to not have met Squares targets even though it sold decent numbers. I'd rather they sell a few cosmetics to make that extra money than having to second guess making another Final Fantasy game over a live service.
Never bought a single microtransaction in any AC game and probably never will. But I know a lot of people do and if they get extra money from it I don't see the issue, it's money that they can use to fund their next game.
If they wouldn't take the time to make the Microsoft, and spend money on the extra effort it takes then they wouldn't have so much to recoup from selling the base game. Besides AC is a well know, and well recieved IP. It already has a giant fan base, it doesn't need to nickel and dime their players. Make the games worth playing, and the sales will follow. Quote from Field of Dreams "If you build it, they will come"
such backwards logic, the single players games without bs mtx that sell well, do so because they are good. If people wouldn't buy the shitty mx in all the ubi games they would actually be forced to make better games to make money, which is a win for gamers. Now they can just be lazy with their games and make their shareholders happy by just throwing some mtx at it. As you must have seen by now, it started with horse armor and now we are here and it's going downwards even further at this rate.
FF16 will sell more in the future, it will come to more platforms and it will sell more as the ps5 userbase grows so I'm not sure why you're even comparing it to that.
I always thought there was something cheap or simple about this particular AC game. The probably realized the game won't have long legs in sales so they're gonna milk whatever they can out it.
Microtransactions galore, milk the gold mine until it quickly runs dry.
Not defending but what do we expect at this point? What game big game recently doesn’t have micro transactions? It’d be harder to list games that don’t have them than do… it’s just inevitable at this point unfortunately….
I’m gonna be honest, I am sick of these stories. Every couple months a game comes out with MTs and there’s a big to do about it, yet that game will go on to make more revenue in MTs than the game itself.
If gamers hate MTs so much, they sure have a funny way of showing it.
Ive also said this before and I’ll say it again - games are expensive and more risky than ever to make while the cost of games has remained flat or even gone down when adjusted for inflation. So if you hate MTs and you want to abolish them, you’re going to be end up paying more for the game itself. Personally speaking, I’d rather the msrp of the game remain lower and let there be MTs. That way there is choice and everyone wins. You don’t have to buy those MTs if you don’t want to. I personally never do.
Now go on and disagree with me for living in a world governed by reality and accepting that we can’t always have our cake and eat it too.
It don't mean we can't batch about it. I cannot say anything just as well as you not clicking the article. Article is hear and I felt like batching about it.
Ok, before anybody has an anal prolapse from this, you have to ask what exactly are the Microtransactions and how is the game built around it.
The only time it’s bull sh*t is if the game is designed to become a slog that requires you pump in money in order to enjoy the game and finish it without grinding your balls off and hating life if you don’t.
If it’s a weapon pack and skins, get over it. Geezus… RE4 Remake is GotY worthy and I platinumed it without ever buying a single microtransaction. If it’s completely optional why do people get so bent out of shape over it?
I completely understand if it’s GaaS level pay-wall kind of scummy practices that suck a whale dry, but this is probably the most inoffensive thing I read where it’s a skin and a weapon pack.
Where game development costs are apparently out of control and they next-gen tax our asses over it but making games MORE expensive for the consumer, this optional skin and weapon pack is the least offensive thing.
GOOD! FIGHT THIS! PAID DLC, MICROTRANSACTIONS, LOOT BOXES, SEASON PASSES, SUBSCRIPTIONS! FIGHT IT! It's Gamers that need to win, not publishers. There was a time you bought a game at $39.99 and you got the whole game. Today, the game is dissected just before it goes Gold. You think after that many years of work they want to work some more like that? No! This proves that. Street Fighter 6 gets a DLC character 1 MONTH after the games release, nah, that content should have been yours from the start, but they want to play this bull shit! Someone in Ubisoft has a conscience. Hopefully more developers come forward as well like this. This picking our pockets has got to come to an end. We were treated a lot better than this years ago. We had UNLOCKABLES years ago, all that content came on the cartridge or disc and as you met certain objectives, content was unlocked. You a full game until the sequel was released. BULL SHIT! TOTAL BULL SHIT!
The game is 50$. It's on the ubisoft plus subscription service day one on PC and Xbox so you can get a month for 20$(or a dollar for first time) and beat it comfortably.
But apparently they have some items for sale that 80% of games sell as well....so anti consumer!!!! They are destroying the industry!!!
Some? All should be. This sort of micro transaction nonsense from mobile games, pushing it on kids. It’s awful. Saw a parent with £30k on a credit card from FIFA packs. They’ll never be able to pay it off. Absolutely sickens me.
Have never bought any games that have microtransactions. I only buy complete games such as Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate III or Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart (albeit all of them were buggy, but at least they were complete).
Basically, I never buy anything from EA, Ubisoft or Activision Blizzard.
To me, gaming is as far as it can be from any predatory practises there can be. It's about delving into a world where I can relax, have fun or be excited after a long day at work or spending time with family. It's a hobby that is at its best at night before bedtime or Saturday and Sunday morning when everyone else is sleeping, and I can have a couple of hours of my own time. Later on, it will probably be a hobby I will share with my kid as well.
During these holy moments I have, if someone was to bombard me with any type of predatory marketing while I'm in my flow and zen state of recovery, I'd simply shut it down and move on to a more peaceful and isolated experience. As long as those experiences exist, I'm a happy gamer. And these experiences do exist as there's an entirely different type of gaming subculture outside these juggernaut publishers out there, including indie games and A and AA games. Plus, there are so many classics I played 20-30 years ago that are still fantastic experiences, and consistently new great games are being released.
I'm now functioning under the premise that a paid game with mtx is trash. I'm no longer buying the shit. Some people really like the taste of shit ...it's unfortunate
Smh I guess they do that for the mfs who don't want to thoroughly play the game hours so they buy all the rare stuff from the jump, smh 🤦🏾 can't enjoy a game like that, smh this is some ass right here mane
The only ubisoft game I will be buying (after i read several reviews) will be star wars outlaws. Im sure itll have some of this BS in it but im just starved for good star wars games after the desolation of EAs exclusivity.
So glad I'm done with this series. It started to go downhill after III, when they ended the only story that was interesting. Yet they kept it going year after year with padding, filler, grindy games, with throwaway plots that remain unresolved and ignored.
Then they sunk even further with Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, with endless menu time spent, scouring for trash off the floor collecting "resources", constantly acquiring worthless gear, and constantly having up to upgrade your gear as well. All of this eats up your lifespan, and offers nothing in return but boring repetitive filler junk.
Did anyone actually believed that UbiShit would change their ways and improve? HA! This is just another filler junk game. Enjoy it, but I've given up on UbiShit these days. I'll play their classics, but nothing new from them. They are no different than EA or ACTI at this point. So much potential, wasted due to endless greed.
don't buy it then
It's ubisoft, this was always going to happen.

I'm sure there's plenty of free content as well.
Ubisoft never changes.
