Cory Barlog is joining the growing chorus from the gaming community that is far from happy about the way Borderlands 3 developer Gearbox is handling itself of late.
Sony must have asked him to delete to avoid potential conflicts with a 3rd party partner(Bethesda). It stinks but it's logical. Cory's point got a cross and that's more than enough.

He would be right though. Randy telling people during a pandemic that if they don't like it (not being paid the bonuses they were led to believe they would getting to compensate for a lower than average wage), then they can just quit is disgusting. Even worse, he himself received a $12m bonus while having that attitude. The guy has consistently proven himself to be a jackass.
Even if there wasn't a global pandemic going on right now, this would be an asshole move. The fact that he has done this during a global pandemic just puts him on a different level of asshole.
Kind of depends on the way the board is made up, and how many votes he has. It's possible to oust a sitting ceo, but it does take some effort if the CEO also owns a controlling share. However, since the company does have a lot of other big investors, its quite possible that he doesnt own a controlling interest.
But the investors dont care so much about the politics going around right now. They just want a return on investment. I assume given the state of the stock market, that this wouldnt be viewed as a negative on his part.
That is because Apple is a public traded company. That means that there are shareholders that control the company. On a private held company like Gearbox, the people that control the company is its owners and in this case Pitchford is the owner with the majority of operational control.
So nobody other than himself or maybe the law can take him from there.
I hated how "woke" that game was. Ruined the whole thing for me. "Hey Gearbox, your story sucked. Fix Ava please?" Gearbox replies with an Oceans 11 DLC no one asked for and a gay wedding... yay.
