Valorant head coach Mini parts ways with Fnatic

FNATIC Parts ways with Valorant Head Coach

After his two-year tenure with the team, the prominent European esports organization Fnatic has officially parted ways with their Valorant head coach, Jacob “Mini” Harris.

During his time as Fnatic’s head coach, Mini played a pivotal role in the team’s success. His keen eye for talent scouting in the European region led to the discovery of exceptional players like Emir “Alfajer” Ali Beder and Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev, both of whom achieved recognition as some of the best players in the world for a significant period.

Collaborating with in-game leader Jake “Boaster” Howlett, Mini steered Fnatic to numerous championship victories, including clinching two major trophies earlier this year.

Mini’s Departure Cites Work-Life Balance

The departing head coach, Mini, has cited his reason for leaving as needing a healthier work-life balance. The demands of coaching one of the top teams in Valorant had begun to encroach on his personal life. In a statement, he expressed his desire to rediscover his identity, stating that he wants to be “More Jacob Harris and less Mini.”

Mini hinted at a potential return to management roles, provided they allow for a more balanced life outside the game. He revealed that he had communicated his intentions to Fnatic approximately six months ago, expressing his reservations about re-signing as the head coach due to these concerns.

While discussions with Fnatic are ongoing to determine a suitable future, Mini’s contract has now ended, and he is open to considering offers from other teams. He preferred roles such as assistant coaching or general management (GM). However, he remains open to exploring other opportunities that align with his goals.

Mini acknowledged that this decision had been difficult for him and took the opportunity to praise his team, particularly Boaster, in a follow-up Tweet.

With Mini’s departure, Fnatic will search for a new head coach in the coming year. The team’s director has confirmed they already have several candidates in mind for this important role, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Fnatic’s Valorant journey.
