It seems like to sell the xbox one microsoft has xbox sales deal every week or two. The system has had literally six price drop since launch. How can xbox scorpio be more than 500 dollars if they can barely sell a console that is drastically cheaper than the ps4 but the ps4 constantly outsells it worldwide every month since launch almost three years ago.
Wii did the same thing last gen against the PS3 and XBox 360. It didn't matter much last gen. It doesn't matter much this gen either. The XB1 S was selling very well when it launched. I think Microsoft is gearing up for the holidays. I'm surprised they aren't running $150-$200 deals for the original bulky XB1's. They need to clear out that inventory.
This sounds like a crazy amount of excuses. The Xbox One S just launched and did very well for MS, but with official deals popping up for it, it obviously has slowed down.

@Overload What does Wii U sales have to do with XB1 S selling? Wii U has been on the market longer then PS4 and XB1. Wii U only sold 400K it's first week. Both the PS4 and XB1 sold over 1 million in 24hrs.
@Aenea It's still selling well. Will sell a lot better once Oct, Nov & Dec hits.
This got to put some serious pressure on Sony, especially with a PS4 Samwich that is a downgrade from existing console. PS4 Samwich $299-349 incoming.
MS is trying to push some serious sales and undermine Sony's announcement. It is easier to compete when the competition doesn't have a competing product right now.
Not even sure what this means. But if we're comparing price reductions, let's get real here, the Xbox has been a different price every few months all generation.

Who cares lol? That's their problem. As consumers price drops are only beneficial to us, they can drop the price 10 more times for all I care, just means I'll get the Scorpio for cheaper when i decide to buy it.
One of the keys for Scorpio is people having a large investment in games for X1. So drop the price so low to reduce barrier to entry to as low as possible. Then Owners may buy titles for X1 now and perhaps want to upgrade to Scorpio. I own an X1 but have bought only 1 title for it (Red Dead Redemption for X360 back compat). But now that many X1 titles such as Recore) will be on PC, I will just buy it for PC.
No I bought my X1 as Best Buy was practically giving them away some time back and I generally just use it as a streaming media device and bluray player. I had an old console trade-in and It was so cheap it was worth it. I certainly didn't pay full price for it.
The box doesn't matter...software and services do . They can afford to sell at a loss. They make substantially more on software and services. Xbox has a history of very high attach rates.
The problem with the Xbox one was the way they presented it at E3 2013, they advertised it as a TV box instead of what it was intended to do which was plays games even if it was less powerful then the ps4 the sales would of been alot more better then it is now and there's always that saying the first impression is the last impression.
Let me tell you how this works, a company loves making money of course however its not their only goal. Look at windows 10 for example they could of made everyone pay for it making millions how ever they take a loss to gain market share. Which in the end helps with a lot things.
I work for one of the biggest trucking companies in the U.S. we some time take shipments free just to cut off are rivals from getting them, you would think it cost a lot of money however for company worth billions its pocket change. It also has a upside in are eyes it helps with making a partner ship, you scratch my back I scratch yours. This grows a relationship with the consumer and the provider. Make them want to come back to us more often. How does Microsoft make money from these deals. A bunch of ways the big seller is, every item sold on the Xbox Store Microsoft gets a % of it even if they don't spend a dime helping produce the game.

I expect XBOX One S to Win August NPD by a wide margin because of the preorders and guys like timdog buying his 7th xb console. But if they're already back to giving away the kitchen sink with the XB then that new momentum everyone was talking about wasn't real, right?
For August it only placed 23rd, 42nd and 82nd vs 25th and 57th for the ps4 on Amazon. So yes it's probably ahead for the month, though likely not as far ahead as you'd hoped.
For perspective the Vita placed 76th so that Madden xb1 bundle at 82nd didn't sell much
That's a killer deal but there's still nothing exclusive I have any interest in unfortunately. I'd buy MCC just to catch up on the series but that's about it.
I won't get it because my girlfriend got me a 60 inch 1080p TV for my birthday even though I asked for 4k, but I'm not complaining. And the s isn't black. I can't stand white consoles.
