"We will continue to work to see if we can improve things, but the current state of the game on the Series S is unacceptable," TeamKill Media co-founder and owner Micah Jones says.
Is Starfield even a game to write home about? There's plenty of technical limitations
Don't get me wrong, I feel most are only talking about this game because of their comments on this, and they know it, which is why it keeps getting brought up. It's not like the gameplay they showed was anything mind blowing. Too many devs have already smoke about the S being an issue, but in this case, they're sort of just hoping for the attention
Like those fugly faces🤣🤣 The one guy that is the center of attention, with all those leak photos of fugly looking characters, looks like that guy from that “Oh My!!!!!” Commercial! The way how he looks at you dead in your eyes!
Starfeild got a decade's worth of development and was designed long before current gen consoles were even in the pipeline so it's safe to assume it started life as a last gen designed game.
This game is a Small budget indie title they don't have the liberty to dev for a decade to shoehorn the engine into a fully functional series s compatible game.
While Starfield does boast a large playable area, it really isn't the best-looking game. The game also recommends a 2080 on Steam and runs at 30fps on Xbox Series.
Also, the use the word "unacceptable" as a subjective descriptor. Maybe think 30fps is unacceptable?
The only way these developers get publicity and gather some "interest" in their game is by bashing the Xbox in some form or another. They have done it the past... and now they doing it again.
... and all this for a game that was supposed to be released on the PS4. * Facepalm *
Their game is going to be available on xbox. That's not good attention. How about instead of white knighting for ms all the time lelo just let it be. More and more devs are coming out and speaking about this. It's not all on the dev. Hell ms has canceled features on ms studio games due to the s. Come on dude
It's very possible that they are struggling with Series S. Not because their game is complex or anything like that. But because so far it looks basically like an asset flip running on UE5. And if real games running with that engine can run as low as 480p on the Series S (and below 800p on the "big boy" consoles) something done by just slapping a bunch of assets together will likely run even worse.
Man, it honestly makes me really sad to see these people defending this sort of unprofessionalism. But that is the internet and N4G for you.
They’re not bashing Xbox they’re just being transparent about development with this game, what would you want the game to release and it’s a shit show for the series S or the developers actually try to have it playable in a better quality state than what it is now?
Apparently at Gamescom plenty of developers were complaining about the Series S being a massive bottleneck. This may skew a few companies to only release on PS5 and PC as we go deeper into the generation.
Phil said it’s not about parity. Everything’s equal. No one’s complaining. Buy the game and move along. Just know your game will come with less features because you bought a weaker console but you should’ve known that already even though we said there will be no compromise.
I wonder when the lawsuit will happen?? You know it will. MS is gonna back track on everything just to stay competitive. That bottleneck is too much of a problem.
The series S feels like karma coming home after all the Xbox fans were talking about the ps4 pro saying it was a mistake (even though it carried a lot of games towards the end of last gen) and now they have the entire beginning to end of this generation having to accept series S as a true mistake
Just an XB1X on steroids there is a new Series S black with a 1TB hard drive out in the wild. Even then I would just spend the extra cash on the Series X.
You paid for half price for a next gen console you got half of a next gen console.
The parity rule is concrete it's not changing there is some wiggle room like bg3 got split screen co op removed from the s but you can only strip so much from a game like the article states the s version is a low resolution blurry choppy experience.
Unfortunately the series s experience can probably be the core reason as to why all multiplatform releases have been underwhelming at best from a graphical perspective because everything has either been cross gen or when next gen only designed for the lowest common denominator the series s
“ I think you have to build your game specifically to run on the S to get those specs with techniques that are used on lesser hardware,”
This is exactly what many people have been saying since the start of this generation. You can’t just lower a resolution or remove foliage and make things better. You’d have yo target the lowest common denominator and change the architecture of the game itself.
A lot of last gen games run well on the series S. The first two years of this gen were not a true indicator of what’s to come. The S will be abandoned before the end of this generation.
Clearly these devs are massive ps5 fanboys or incompetent.
They should know about the SLIDERS. All they have to do is lower the slider down from the Xbox series X and the game will work perfectly. The armchair Xbox developers on n4g told us all this.
The S needed to have a slightly better GPU in there and 1TB hdd then it would be a perfect choice. At 4TF it's no good should have been 6TF like the one X before it
So series s can run Starfield but not this game 😂

They just need to get Phil's approval to release it at it's current state, you get what you pay for is what I was told anyway.
